If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, you must have tried the succulent and flavorful Tandoori lamb chops at some point. These delicious chops are marinated in a blend of spices and yoghurt, then grilled to perfection in a clay oven, also known as a Tandoor. While you may think that making these chops at home is a daunting task, we're here to tell you that it's not. In fact, with our easy-to-follow recipe and step-by-step instructions, you can make the best Tandoori lamb chops right in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Ingredients
To make the perfect Tandoori lamb chops, you'll need the following ingredients:
Marination
The key to making the best Tandoori lamb chops is in the marination. To start, mix the yoghurt, Tandoori masala, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt in a large bowl. Once you have the marinade ready, add the lamb chops to the bowl and coat them well with the marinade. Cover the bowl with cling film and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight. The longer you marinate the lamb chops, the more flavorful they'll be.
Note some restaurants add a little red or orange food colouring to the marinade, this is optional
Cooking
When you're ready to cook the lamb chops, preheat your grill. Take the lamb chops out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This will ensure that the chops cook evenly.
Next, take a grill rack and place the lamb chops on it. Grill the lamb chops for about 20-25 minutes, turning every few minutes, or until they're cooked to your liking. You can also cook the lamb chops on a barbecue for a more authentic flavour.
Alternatively, you can use an air frier, place the air frier on 200c and cook for 15 minutes, turning them over about 1/2 way through, at this stage you can brush with a little melted ghee to help with that smoky charred grilled flavour.
Serving
Once the lamb chops are cooked, let them rest for a few minutes before serving. You can garnish them with some chopped coriander and lemon wedges for added freshness. Tandoori lamb chops are also great served on a sizzling dish with a bed of onions.
